Slow Cooker Apple Butter

I have been dreaming about having apple butter on sourdough for awhile now. So here’s my quick and easy slow cooker apple butter recipe.

Ingredients:

5 lbs Fugi or Golden Delicious apples

1 cup tightly packed brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 TBS ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp salt

1/8 tsp ground cloves

1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Directions:

Core all of your apples and then chop them. No need to peel them.

Combine all of the remaining ingredients in a small bowl.

Place chopped apples in the slow cooker and pour the mixture over the apples and mix well.

Set slow cooker to low for 10 hours.

After 10 hours use an immersion blender to blend until smooth. If you don’t have an immersion blender a regular blender would work but you may have to work in batches.

Turn slow cooker to low for another 2 hours uncovered and stirring occasionally.

Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container. It will keep for 2 weeks. You can also freeze for several months.

Thanks for flying by y’all!
