Toile Curtains

I thought all the hype that I created for these toile curtains deserved their own little blog post. I was waiting by the door for the FedEx man to deliver the hardware today. So as soon as lunch was over, I ran upstairs like it was Christmas and busted open those packages so quickly. Y’all!!!! I am so impressed with the hardware I picked up from Drapery Rods Direct and the wood finish matches our hardwood floors perfectly. Let’s talk details shall we?

I wasn’t going to let anything stop me from hanging these rods, even the yellow jacket buzzing in the window sill that I was working on. Not today bug, not today!

Curtains

Like I mentioned to y’all earlier in my Instagram stories for those of you who follow me over there, I ordered these Toile Maison d’ Hermine The Miller curtain panels in size 50 x 124. I knew I wanted to hang the rod rather close to the ceiling trim to really draw your eye up. The ceilings in this room are 10 feet tall, so I knew standard 108 inch curtains wouldn’t do. These panels are actually machine washable, and to my advantage 100% cotton. When I washed and dried them they definitely shrank up just a little bit which was perfect.

As far as the bottom of the curtains, I prefer pooling at the bottom. I know this is always up for debate. I say grazing and pooling are the best way to go. You don’t want your curtains to not slightly graze the floor. I may hem them up just a few inches, but I’m going to take a few days to decide on it. I’m just excited to have them up.

Hardware

Let’s talk hardware for a moment. I scoured the internet for wood hardware like it was my job y’all. So I weighed my options and decided to bite the bullet and just invest in these quality rods. I wanted something classic that would last a lifetime. I came across these Kirsch rods on Drapery Rods Direct and they were exactly what I was looking for. They are very similar to the existing rods we have throughout our home and I just really love the classic look, afterall I was hanging toile drapes. What’s more classic than that?

Details

I ordered the 1 3/8 rods in the color Estate Oak. I went with the 4 foot rod. They also come in a 6 foot and 7’9 foot as well if you have larger windows. For the finials I went with the Chaucer style. I went back and forth with the brackets, but decided on the 3 1/2 inch return bracket. When you’re on their website it’s very easy to order the hardware sets. It will take you through all the pieces you’ll need and in the finish you need. So simple and easy to navigate! I also chose to get 4 packets of 7 curtain rings because I just really love that look.

Installation

From start to finish this installation took me 2 hours to complete. I took my time and measured and re-measured because I know these rods will be up here for decades, so I wanted to get it all right. All the necessary brackets, screws, and anchor screws are all included. They are definitely the most secure brackets I’ve ever installed.

As far as hanging the curtains on the rod I used these drapery pins along the length of the panels and then attached the drapery rings to the pins. These panels also do have loops if you prefer to hang them directly on the rod. I just prefer to hang them on rings because they are easier to close if necessary.

I am so happy with the way they turned out! It’s better than what I had envisioned for this room. They make such a statement. Never underestimate the power of window treatments. They really can complete the look of a room.

Kato was very interested in what mom was up to in here. He’s always such a helper. They don’t call them working dogs for nothing.

Thanks for flying by sweet friends! Now I just need a matching toile bolster pillow and I’ll be happy. To shop this space you can click here.
