French Eggshell by Fusion Mineral Paint

Hey friends and happy Friday! I’m currently waiting for paint to dry but I wanted to get this blog up ASAP! I am down to the wire over here. I took a poll on Instagram the other day to see what color you guys thought I should paint this chest of drawers. The choices were pressed fern, peony, and french eggshell. With 51% of votes, French Eggshell by Fusion Mineral Paint was the winner! This is such a beautiful color and I couldn’t want to try it out.

I have had this chest of drawers since I was a baby. It goes with me everywhere. My mom told me that my dad took it from his fraternity house back in the day. It’s been black, white, and all colors in between. I have to say this French Eggshell is by far my favorite! This shade is a perfect mix of blue, green and gray.

Here’s a look at what this cabinet was before. I tried this weird finish on it and it never really looked the way I wanted it to. Not sure what I was thinking honestly.

I first took all the hardware off and wiped it down with a damp microfiber cloth just to get any dust particles off. I let it dry for at least 20 minutes before painting it. Fusion Mineral Paint has a built in primer so it really goes on like butter. If your piece has wax on it or a varnish be sure to prep it properly before going in with the paint. I suggest using some sand paper to remove any coating on the surface.

For this color I did two coats. If you’re trying to cover a darker color it may take three coats. It all depends on your base. Remember less is more with this paint. You can always go in with another coat, this helps it from being too streaky. So if you’re seeing too many paint strokes you’re probably applying too much paint to your brush.

The hardware was a brushed nickel before, but I felt that this color needed a warmer tone hardware. To warm up the hardware I decided to use Fusion Mineral Paint in Metallic Champagne Gold. It took two coats to get an even finish.

I allowed the coats to dry for at least two hours before applying a second coat. Then allowed the pieces to dry for a good 24 hours to cure. The longer you wait the better in my experience. The best part about this paint is that its perfect for any skill level. You can also paint almost any surface like glass, plastic and metal with no primer! Incredible right?

So here she is! How pretty did she turn out? It’s amazing what a little paint can do for a piece of furniture. I promise if you haven’t tried this paint yet you’re definitely missing out. Shop the products I used down below. French Eggshell by Fusion Mineral Paint is my new jam!
