Potting Bench with Scalloped Trim Detail

Chris found this potting bench on Amazon a few months ago for our garden shed. Once he had it put together I knew that I wanted to paint it a fun shade of green. Eventually this is the green I’d love to paint the interior of our garden shed once it’s finished off. It’s called Softened Green by Sherwin Williams. I have since updated this potting bench with scalloped trim detail to give it more character and personality. I think it was the final touch I was looking for!

The hardware was a brushed nickel before and it didn’t match, so I thought it needed something more worn looking. I spray painted it oil rubbed bronze by Rustoleum. After one coat I let it dry overnight and then added some Rub N Buff in Antique Gold.

I have one more detail to add to it and then I’ll call it done. So stay tuned for that. Next month I plan on using this for the beverage station for our girl’s birthday party. It’s not the most quality piece of furniture, but I see it coming in handy for many different things.

You can check out my reel over on Instagram to see how I styled it up.

Update:

Since sharing this I’ve added one more detail that just finished off the look. I found this scalloped edge trim on Amazon and attached it with some wood glue to a few areas of this bench. I had to trim a few pieces for it to fit properly and the easiest way to cut the trim was with miter shears.

I think it’s just the softness it was calling for! it definitely gave it some personality! I styled it up with a few of my favorite things:

A beautiful candle from It’s More Than a Home in the perfect blue and white chinoiserie mug, my thrifted glass lamp I picked up last week, a copy of Evergreen by Lydia Millen Gordon, as well as my vintage looking radio from the Hearth and Hand Collection at Target.

Thanks for flying by y’all!
