Dining Room Wallpaper

Over a year. That’s how long it took me to commit to a wallpaper for our dining room. I’ve ordered so many samples to try and nothing was catching my eye. We didn’t really want to have to paint our wainscoting, trim, and ceiling so whatever we chose had to match those paint colors. I also wanted to chose something that was timeless. Enter William Morris’s well known Pimpernel Wallpaper from Wallpaper Direct.

Another reason I knew this was the one, is that this particular design was created the same year our home was built, 1876. “This piece is a clear example of the relationship Morris created between the design of wallpapers and fabrics, influenced by oriental models. Titled Pimpernel, it was created around 1876 and is an example of how the interest for Japanese design lead to the simplification of lines and colors.” (source)

With the help of Wallpaper Direct I was able to find “the one”. I have seen this pattern in various homes, but I had never seen it in this particular colorway. It is actually one of six exclusive colorways by Wallpaper Direct. The colorway in is Eggshell/Ecru which is such a compliment to the colors we already had in our dining room. I love the green background and the bluish gray ribbons running through it. I thought it was the perfect color combo to compliment the rest of our house. It has both cool and warm tones which I really love.

Kato was very excited to see what was in the boxes!

Before

Here’s a look at our dining room before the wallpaper was installed. I did love this wallpaper, however it was showing its age and had a few water stains along with some fading. So it was just time for a refresh.

After

Kato had to have a quick wardrobe change to match the blue vibes. LOL!

There…that’s better. That look though. What a stud!

These tassels were actually the starting off point to the color scheme and inspiration of this room.

I’ve started collecting some Wedgewood Jasperware in blue to fill up our breakfront cabinet. I think it compliments the wallpaper nicely.

Y’all remember when I found these brass Federal style light switch plates in our basement. I just love how they look against this wallpaper. Such a vintage classic look.

This project took 11 rolls to complete, with some excess left over. This room is about 544 sq ft or 18 x 16 for perspective. The actual wall space is a little over 8 feet tall since we have rather thick ceiling trim and wainscotting that comes up on the lower half of the wall. I would recommend getting a professional opinion when figuring out how many rolls to order for your project. Always account for 10% waste.

Thank you so much for flying by today! Thank you to Wallpaper Direct for partnering with me on this project. I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend!
