Styling a Coffee Table

Hey friend! Welcome back! Today I wanted to spruce up my coffee table in our living room just to give it a more transitional look for Fall. I’m not quite ready to pull out all the pumpkins just yet, so I decided to incorporate some faux pears like I did with my Fall transitional tablescape I did a few weeks ago. There are a few essential items that I like to incorporate anytime I am styling a coffee table that I’m going to share with you today.

The first essential item is a tray. A tray is a perfect way to house all of your smaller items in the middle of your table. I like to treat it like a story. An easy way to add some height and interest to your coffee table is to add either a floral arrangement or some greenery to a taller vase. I picked this stoneware vase up from Goodwill. I like to get most of my greenery and floral arrangements from either Michael’s or Hobby Lobby.

Another essential that I have to have on the coffee table is a set of coasters. These marble and wood coasters shown above are the perfect element of style and function.

The third essential item that I have on my coffee table is a candle. I’m really loving this wooden mini dough bowl candle. This just helps add some ambience to the table, and of course it smells really nice!

I also love to have some sort of reading material, whether that be magazines or books. Because I love home design I like to have all of my design books out on display. If you don’t want to invest in hardback books I highly suggest going to a thrift store to pick up some older hardback coffee table books that still look classic. You can read all about my favorite coffee table books here.

Then I like to incorporate some item that gives some texture to your table, and in this case it’s this string of wooden beads. It’s just kind of like the icing on the cake.

And as you know, I can’t resist color so I added some fun faux pears just to add that pop of color. It also helps tie in the pears that I have over on my balance scale next to the sofa.

I highly suggest starting with the center  tray first, then add your height, and then just fill-in from there. It may take a little finagling, but in the end do you what makes you feel happy. There are no right or wrong ways to style. I recently had someone tell me that I wasn’t following the rules, to which I respond with “what rules”?! Be creative and create a space you love. Thank you so much for flying by today friend. Happy Styling!!

Xoxo,

Robyn
