Laundry Room Refresh

Good morning! This weekend I decided to tackle my laundry room. Well it’s more of a laundry closet than a room. I honestly did this so I would be excited to laundry every week! Every time I opened this closet I cringed because it was so fugly! Keep in mind I didn’t spend a dime on this little update. I find it as a challenge to shop my home and repurpose things around the house. It’s definitely more rewarding for me that way. I’m game for a good challenge! Always see what you have first before going out and buying stuff. I hope you’ll enjoy this little laundry room refresh and declutter.

Here is what I was working with before. Ughh!!! It gave me a little bit of anxiety every time I opened these doors! It makes me uneasy just showing y’all this before photo, but this is real life folks!

I literally filled up a whole lawn trash bag of stuff that I didn’t need anymore. Why was I holding on to dingy towels that were over 10 years old? After I had gone through all the old cleaning products and stuff that just needed to be tossed, I cleaned off the shelves and gave the washer and dryer a good wipe down. This washer and dryer both were left behind when we purchased the house so of course we will take full advantage of that until we need a new set. That’s why they aren’t a matching set in case you were wondering. And for the big reveal….

I didn’t do anything structurally to the space, but I knew that it needed some personality. I thought to myself…why not hang curtains from the ceiling? I picked these Pottery Barn kids gingham curtains awhile back from Goodwill one day. They were only like $5! I thought they would work in our guest room but they weren’t long enough for our window in there. I just tacked them up to the ceiling creating a little swag to give them a pleated look. I think eventually I will get a tension rod to run near the ceiling, but this will do for now. They also help disguise the other not so cute stuff.

I put this empty tissue holder above my dryer so I could use it as a little trash can for my lint. A little sneak behind the curtains are my cleaning caddy, penguin humidifier, bins for extra towels, and more toiletries.

I had this cute little wooden letter holder for a desk that I picked up from Goodwill years ago and used it as a catchall tray for my everyday laundry essentials. I love adding wood elements when styling. It automatically warms up the feel of the space. I used a clear vase to house my laundry packs in so not only would they look cute, but it helps me to see how many are left and when I need to reorder.

My top favorite laundry items are Oxi Clean packs, Mrs. Meyers Fabric Softener in the Blue Bell scent, Molly’s Suds, Ecover stain remover, and Method Dryer Sheets. Most of these laundry products I purchased on Grove Collaborative. If you sign up now you can get 5 products free! They are such a wonderful company!

That bicycle is actually a pillow case that I hung in this blank space above the shelves to give it some interest. I also had this cute little boxwood wreath that I attached to the shelf to hide the ugly plug to the washer. I love to add a bit of green anywhere I’m decorating to give life to the space. This one is from Hobby Lobby.

I had purchased this wood laundry sign from Hobby Lobby before we moved in to our house. I thought it was so cute!

I wish I liked doing laundry but I’m just not one of those people. But now at least my laundry room looks cute! 🙂 Well y’all, this laundry isn’t going to fold itself…until next time. Thank you for joining me in this little declutter and refresh sesh!

Have a wonderful day birdies!

xoxo,

Robyn 🙂
