Five Tips to Get you Through the Winter Months

We are about halfway through January, aka the longest month of the year, and I can’t help but dream of Spring. I’m not one for cold weather. Today over on Instagram I shared a few Spring scenes around our home. I think the one thing I miss in the Winter are flowers. We do get some camellias during the Winter which is nice. In the Winter I try and bring some greenery indoors to add life to the house which is one of my five tips to get you through the Winter months. I hope you enjoy!

Get Vitamin D and Fresh Air Every Day

Chris, baby Davis and I get all bundled up and go for an afternoon walk (weather permitting) and get that fresh air in our lungs and vitamin D on our faces. It is my favorite time of day!

Bring Greenery Indoors

If you can’t enjoy the greenery outdoors bring it in. Buy some house plants and easy to care for plants that bring you joy. There is something about seeing life in your home that will instantly bring you joy and comfort. The easiest indoor plant for me to keep alive is the pothos. It’s very forgiving. You can also propogate it and create new plants all around your home. It’s the plant that keep on giving!

Develop a New Hobby

I have recently been doing a lot of reading about making Sourdough from scratch, so I think that is what my new Winter hobby is going to be. Even though I have a 7 month old who keeps me very busy, I would love to develop a new skill to one day teach her. So I added the ingredients to my grocery order today and will report back on how it’s going.

“Me Time”

Take 20-30 minutes of your day to enjoy reading a book or magazine, listening to a podcast, or listening to music while sipping tea, coffee, or whatever your choice beverage is during the Winter months. Try and put away your phone so you’re not distracted and just emerce yourself in something other than scrolling. I try and do this during baby Davis’ naptime. It helps me to recharge and get inspired.

Organize One Space Every Week

This is something I struggle to achieve, but I’m going to write out a plan of what areas of the home I’d like to organize each week leading up until Spring. Whether it be the shed, the pantry, or closets. I am known for hoarding away items I really don’t need so the Winter is a good time to tackle those areas. Once those areas are organized and clean your mind will feel better as well. When you open that dreaded stuffed cupboard or closet and it’s now organized and clean it will feel so much lighter!

These are just a few things to get me through the Winter months until Spring rolls around. I hope you have found this helpful. Let me know in the comments one of your favorite things to do during the Winter months.

Thanks for flying by…

xoxo, Robyn
