Teak Outdoor Furniture

Who buys outdoor furniture in January? This gal right here!!! I figured I would score a better deal on it out of season, and had a better chance of it getting here right before Spring. Chris has always loved teak outdoor furniture so I went on a mission to find a nice set that wasn’t insanely expensive. So after searching and searching here is what we ended up with.

What I learned along the way is that many stores sell the same sets but under their own names, and some for a fraction of their competitors. After weeks of research we ended up purchasing the Catalina Teak 5 piece sofa set from Sam‘s Club. If you don’t have a Sam’s Club membership, they do sell it on Overstock and Wayfair but the cushions do look a little different than the set we purchased. Those set are also almost $1,000.00 more!

The shipping took about 3 weeks because it doesn’t just come via UPS or FedEx, they have a special carrier for larger freight items. So just be aware of that if you do decide to order. It will come in 4 boxes, 2 of which are very large, so just keep that in mind.

It took me about 3 hours to put together last night. It was rather simple but I would suggest a partner when it comes to building the sofa. You may need an extra hand to hold it up. I will most definitely be sharing a review of this set later down the line to see how it holds up. I will say that it is very comfortable! Much more comfortable than the last set we purchased on Amazon. I also love how the teak warms up this space and brings in a feeling of nature.

So this set contains a three seater sofa, 2 armchairs, a coffee table and a side table. The cushions were another selling feature for me because they were very thick. I believe they are 5 inches, but to me they look to be more like 6 inches. The cushion covers are removable so you can wash them as well. Which is such a bonus since they are outside on our screened porch they will get dirty. So come pollen season we will be ready!

The solid teak wood will take on a weathered gray finish if you don’t treat it with oil every 6 months. So you really have two options for how it looks for the rest of it’s life. We will most likely treat it because I really do like the current color of it now. I also really loved the curved detail on the side of each piece. It give it a little softness against the straight lines.

I’m so excited to style this space for Spring and Summer. I have a few items coming but was too anxious to wait for them to come in to share with y’all. I went with a neutral color palette for now during the Winter months. I am also thinking of painting the ceiling in here Sea Salt blue from Sherwin Williams. We have four rooms in our home with sea salt blue ceilings, so I think it would tie in nicely. So stay tuned for that. I’ve never painted a ceiling before so I’m sure that will be fun!

I can’t wait to spend more time out here once it gets a little warmer. Let me know if you have any questions down in the comments and be sure to subscribe to my newsletter if you haven’t already!
