Transformation Tuesday – Kitchen Island
Hey y’all and happy Tuesday! I hope y’all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! For Transformation Tuesday I wanted to share a before and after of our kitchen island. For those of you who don’t know, I host a hashtag over on Instagram called #styledsink. When you use this hashtag from Thursday through Sunday, I will share ALL of the submissions in my stories and highlights and leave them up all week long for everyone to see. If you’re on Instagram come find me and share your #styledsink 🙂 I welcome all sinks! Even those with dishes in them! It’s just so much fun to see all your beautiful sinks.
My favorite part of our kitchen renovation has to be our farm sink. I picked this sink out from Ikea months before we even decided to do our kitchen. I had been lusting over it for so long and knew I wanted it no matter what! I really loved the 50/50 split and the dry rack on the back. They unfortunately don’t make it anymore. Here’s a very similar one however.
When we moved in three years ago our counters were just your standard formica counters and we had a stainless steel sink that had seen better days. Here’s a look at what our kitchen island looked like before.
The contractor originally thought he would have to take out the bottom cabinets even though I assured him just the middle section would need to be removed. I was right. The bottom cabinets were just fine. He did add some additional support underneath since its a very heavy sink.
The faucet is also from Ikea. They do still have this one in stock. It’s called the Vimmern faucet. We’ve had it now for two years. We did have issues recently with the nozzle where you choose the temperature coming off, but it was really just a matter of tightening the screw. Other than that we’ve loved it.
I also added some shiplap wallpaper from Devine Color to our kitchen island. I think it just gives it that added texture and interest. You can read my tutorial on that here. Here’s what the island looked like before the wallpaper. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to add real shiplap to the island. So this way I could actually see what it would look like. It’s such a nice faux alternative. The best part is that you get sick of it, it’s very easy to remove.
And After! It just brightens up this space even more. I highly recommend this product!
Thank you so much for flying by for Transformation Tuesday y’all!
