Ikea Ektorp Sofa Review
When we first moved in our home a little over a year ago we didn’t do our homework on the sofas we purchased for our living room. We bought a sofa and love seat in a gray linen material from Overstock. They looked really nice online but when we received them, well they were just not so comfy as we had hoped. The sofas were more just for sitting than really laying down and vegging. We had them for a year before I put them up for sale on the garage sales Facebook pages and a found them a new home. Needless to say we are very happy with our new ones! I hope you’ll enjoy my Ikea Ektorp Sofa review friends!
During this time I had done extensive research on the Ikea Ektorp sofas. I had read review after review and I read nothing but good things. So after selling our old ones I took the plunge and ordered two Lofallet Beige Ektorp Sofas to be delivered to our door. The shipping was handled by a third party vendor and only set me back $119 bucks. We live a ways from Ikea and we also didn’t have a truck to pick them up. So for us it was worth the $100 bucks.
They arrived within 1 week which was awesome! They were also super easy to put together. There is the base and back that’s attached already. You literally just pull back on the back of the sofa and you have your frame. All you have to do is attach the arms and feet which was super simple! The most tiring thing was getting all the slipcovers on the cushions. Afterward I felt like I had done an arm workout. I chose the lofallet beige because our carpet is a shade of beige and I though it would go with everything. I think I may purchase a set of white covers in the future to have as a backup, and for when I want a different look.
Before doing a review I thought I would give it a few months to put them to the test. I can honestly say they are my favorite. We had an incident this morning where our cat apparently hadn’t dropped his business very well in the litter so he had a dingle berry that ended up smeared on the couch cushion. Good stuff right!!!
Super Easy Cleaning Routine:
I took off the one slipcover and brushed on E-cover Spot Remover that I had purchased from Grove Collaborative and tossed it in delicate cycle on warm. I used Oxyclean detergent with the cycle as well. After it was finished washing I put it on the delicate cycle for 10 minutes. Then took it out still a little damp and put it on the cushion while still damp. I had read it’s best to put them on while they are still damp so it’s easier to stretch around the cushions and it gets the wrinkles out. Voile it came out great! This fabric washes so well and I’m really impressed so far!
Overall I would highly recommend these Ektorp sofas. I never worry about them getting dirty because you can just take off the cover and wash. That factor alone is what sold me in the first place. I love how cozy they are as well. They are easily a napping kind of sofa, and this chick loves an afternoon nap! So does this little fella below as you can see. Cat approved!
Please let me know if you have any questions about these Ektorp sofas in the comments section below and I’d be glad to answer. Or if you have your own story about these sofas I’d love to hear it!

We are actually going to purchase these this coming weekend. What oxiclean detergent did you use? And how long did you dry the slipcover?

I’m sorry I just now saw this comment. I just used the Oxiclean packs.I only dried it for about 10 minutes and then let it air dry.

hi! two years later, do you still feel the same way? I’m about to purchase this couch online but the reviews online are pretty bad and say the cushions wear so quickly. Any additional feedback on the couch long term? My boyfriend and I went to Ikea this weekend and sat on it and thought it was comfy, but by people’s reviews, the comfort changes after a few months. thanks!

We still really love ours! I try and wash the covers every three months or so. I take naps on it all the time! 🙂

Hello! I read that you purchased the light beige color. Is that the color that is photographed? it looks pretty light and i was going to purchase the white but this looks light enough. Thank you!

Yes we have the light beige. I love them! So easy to clean so I never have to worry about spills!
