Before and Afters of Our Home

Hey friends! I don’t think I’ve shared a before and afters blog of our home in a very long time! We moved into our home almost three years ago this month so I thought it would be the perfect time to share. All of the before photos were taken the day we closed on the house. The pictures have really bad lighting because I was pretty terrible at taking photos back then to be honest. I guess it just make for a more dramatic after shot if any thing else.

Family Room Before

The first room we finished in our house was our main floor family room. We knew that we would spend the most time in this room so we thought it was the perfect place to start. As you can see we changed the blue walls to Oyster Bay by Sherwin Williams. My husband also found the perfect cabinets at Goodwill that I refinished to frame out the space.

Kitchen Before

We did some minor cosmetic updates to our kitchen back in 2017. We had the cabinets painted white, new quartz countertops, new backsplash and new farmhouse sink. Down the line I would love new appliances, but there is nothing wrong with these for now. This is our largest update to date, and the most dramatic too! It just really brightens up this whole space and makes it looks much bigger. If you want to read more details I have a full blog post here.

Dining Room

The only before photo I have of our dining room is the one above. So as you can see we painted the whole back of the house with Oyster Bay by Sherwin Williams. We also switched out the light fixture in the dining room as well.

Master Bedroom Before

The main thing we did in the master was to paint. Before it was a pale yellow. I chose Sherwin Williams Mindful Gray since it went really well with our carpet. I also hung curtains which also makes a huge difference!

Master Bathroom Before

The main change in here is the cabinets. I painted them light gray and put on new hardware. You can read all about my Hobby Lobby Bathroom Makeover here. We eventually would like to completely renovate this space, but for now she looks pretty cute!

Office/Beauty Room Before

Recently I decided to make this extra bedroom into my office/beauty room and I’m so glad I did. We did paint the ceiling back to white. When we moved in it was painted pink. I love having a room designated for working and getting ready. My favorite thing about this room is the wallpaper accent wall. You can read the full blog here.

Upstairs Loft Before

The only thing we’ve done up here is to add a giant sectional. We like to watch movies up here and hang out so we knew we wanted a giant sofa. I would love to add some built ins one day for some additional storage. Don’t mind the bare walls in this picture. I am still trying to figure out what to do on this back wall. I took down our gallery wall because I want a more sophisticated look for this room. Trying to do away with the cutsie vibe if that makes sense.

Entry Way, Living Room, and Breakfast Nook Before

This front room we didn’t have to do a whole lot to honestly. I did repaint our door in Robin’s Egg Blue, but that’s about it other than furnishing it. I would eventually like to switch out the light fixture in here but I haven’t found one that is juuuust right yet. The jury is still out on that. So for now it’s a boob light.

Our latest project that is still on-going is our basement. We had the floors put in the other weekend and now we are waiting to paint as soon as we pick out the right white. So stay tuned for that reveal hopefully within the next month! You can read about our plans here.
