Vintage Nursery Bathroom

After choosing which room would become the nursery we knew that we’d have to weigh our options on whether or not to completely gut the bathroom that was attached to this room or just do some cosmetic updates and keep it in it’s vintage state. We had our contractor come in and give us some options, but being almost 4 months pregnant at that time we decided we didn’t want any huge home renovations going on.

Here’s a little before shot of the bathroom. It’s the smallest of the three bathrooms upstairs so to make it seem bigger we opted to keep the vintage tile which was in wonderful condition and have it professionally refinished.

They even refinished the floor and sink counter as well. If you’re local I’ll be glad to give you the name of the company we used. Feel free to message me for that info. The whole process took 5 days to complete. We couldn’t be happier with the result. It automatically made this room feel larger and updated.

Now for the fun part, the wallpaper. So many of you loved the wallpaper previously but unfortunately it wasn’t in very good condition and was peeling in certain areas. We are also happy that our wallpaper installers found residual mold from a previous problem. Otherwise we wouldn’t have known. So they were able to clear up the issue, remud the walls and install the wallpaper over the repaired corner. We wanted something gender neutral in here just in case this room becomes something else in the future. We loved the idea of trees. It felt whimsical and perfect for a nursery. The wallpaper is made by Brewster and it’s called Ashdown Sage Tree Wallpaper. It comes in different colorways but I just thought the sage colorway was perfect.

The vanity couldn’t be replaced without causing damage to the wall tiles that surround it so I decided to just give it a fresh coat of paint with one of my favorite pinks. It’s called Pink Ground by Farrow and Ball. I used a semi-gloss finish for the cabinet so it can easily be cleaned. I also added some new hardware from Anthropologie. I think they just add to the whimsy feel in here.

We also swapped out the light fixture for a more traditional looking one. I found this one on Wayfair. I kept the theme of the polished nickel look in here to tie in to the vintage medicine cabinet from Sears and Roebuck. It also added some height to the room. We also had our electrician swap out the switch for a dimmer switch to have that option. It makes it cozy in here and will come in handy for that ambiance at night.

Chris picked out this adorable vintage tin artwork at one of our favorite antique stores. I painted the frame to match the wallpaper. I think it is just so sweet!

The small rug in front of the sink is from Amer Rugs. I loved the mix of blues, pinks and greens. It helps to give this bathroom that pop of color on this very white tiled floor.

When we were in Target a few weeks ago I couldn’t pass up this adorable tiered tray in the Dollar Spot. It reminded me of a fruit stand. The sage green was a perfect match for the wallpaper. So I decided to fill it will her small little washcloths. It might be my favorite little finishing touch in here.

The other day while out antiquing with my Dad and Stepmom I found these precious embroidered towels. After she is born I will most likely have some towels monogrammed with her initials. But for now these are just looking oh so cute.

The little wooden stepstool I’ve had for years. I have since painted it to match the pink vanity. I knew one day it would come into use, and I can’t wait to see our little girl using it at her sink.

This project was so fun and I’m honestly a little sad it’s over with. I thank you for all of your sweet comments and messages about the nursery reveal. It meant the world to us! You can check out that blog here.
