Christmas Home Tour

Hey friend! I am so excited to share our Christmas Home Tour with you today. I’ve kept it rather simple this year. I tried to be very mindful this year and only put out the decor I truly love and will use for years to come. I’ve added a Christmas playlist that my dad put together on Spotify if you like to listen while you read. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and get cozy because it’s a long one.

Front Hallway

Let’s start with the front entry shall we? I draped some garland down our railing and tied on some ribbon swags with a pop of color using dehydrated oranges. I love incorporating some sort of organic material when I’m decorating for the holidays whether it be magnolia stems or fruit. You’ll definitely notice a theme threaded through our decor this year.

Formal Living Room

This year I put our main tree in our formal living room in the front of the house. With two furry children and lots of breakable ornaments its created a little less stress since they aren’t allowed in this room anyway. Although Mr. Sunny D. snuck in yesterday for a quick peep around to approve of my work.

This is probably my favorite tree I’ve done to date. I love how it incorporates all the different colors in this room. From antique blue to blush tones and a touch of bronze and gold. I totally get why people leave their trees up year round. I will definitely be sad to take her down.

The mantel is super simple. One strand of pinecone garland with an antique blue velvet ribbon woven through. This is the first year I’ve kept up my hyndrangeas. I added in some magnolia stems to tie in the sprigs in the tree.

I think my favorite part of our mantel are the tassels I added to the stockings. I thought they needed just a little touch of color and this was the perfect touch of blue.

My favorite DIY this year has to be my DIY Abstract Christmas ornaments though. They were so fun to make, and helped to tie in the correct shade of blue to our tree. I found this vintage crystal bowl to display some of the ones I didn’t use on the tree. It’s such an easy way to bring a pop of color to a space.

I love a night glow shot. They are my favorite this time of year!

Kitchen

Moving onto the kitchen. As you can see I continued the blue and orange theme in here as well. I kept our vent hood rather simple with a wreath adorned with dehydrated oranges and simple blue velvet bow.

As far as the mantel goes I mixed in two different garland with some battery operated lights. Threading through the blue velvet ribbon and I popped in some magnolia leaves here and there to add more texture and a different color green. It’s amazing what just a few oranges can do to a space. You can certainly use faux, but I just used real ones this year. They keep for quite awhile depending on when you put them out.

Dining Room

Our dining room hasn’t changed much from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Once it gets a little closer to the week of Christmas I’ll most likely switch out the pears for pomegranates to add a touch of classic red to the table.

Laundry Room

Just put a wreath on it. These wreaths from Wal-Mart are such a good buy. They are so simple are so easy to dress them up however you’d like each year.

Upstairs Hallway

Upstairs I added our flocked tree using a black and white theme with a touch of sage green to tie in some of the colors up there. Give me all the patterns y’all! Toile, houndstooth, plaid…I love them all. It was such a fun tree to decorate. You can’t go wrong with black and white, but I do think adding in another acccent color is what helps keep your eye dancing around. For this tree I actually didn’t buy anything new. I used all of the decor I had already just in a different way. You can read more details about this tree here.

Studio Office

How do you take a $10 white clearance Christmas Tree from Wal-Mart and make it glamorous? Just add swarovski and glass ornaments and lots of ribbon! I made this ribbon bundle last Summer for a wreath and decided to re-use it for the top of this little four foot office Christmas tree.

This year I ended up switching out some of my swarovski ornament ribbons for an antique blue velvet to match the rest of the tree. My mom has given me these ornaments every year since I was 18, so I have quite the collection now.

I also did a quick DIY ornament for this tree as well. I took some ribbon and put it in each glass iridescent ornament just to give it some more interest. Such an easy way to add a custom color to your tree if you can’t find the right shade ornament.

Powder Room

I added a cute little Charlie Brown Christmas tree to our powder bath downstairs. Since we don’t have a ton of sink space this is the perfect touch of Christmas and it just makes me smile. Just a little tip: When you do find these mini trees in store try and find a unique vintage vessel to display them in to give them more of a collected look. For this one in our bathroom I displayed it in a copper pot. Don’t be afraid to mix metals either.

Den

Even though we don’t have the tree in here this year I still wanted to make this space cozy and festive. Just a few twinkle lights on the mantel and lots of cozy faux fur throws and pillows make it the perfect spot to watch Christmas movies.

Last week I decided to paint our basement door back to the original color of Charleston Green. As much as I loved the Robin’s Egg Blue it was just too difficult to keep clean outdoor. I much prefer it for interior doors. Chris, my husband, said the only reason I painted the door was so that my Christmas wreath would show up better. I mean…he’s not wrong. LOL! He knows me well. I love classic red on exterior decor. You can’t go wrong and red always shows up best from the street.

I hope you enjoy this wonderful holiday season. I appreciate you flying by for Christmas Home Tour.
