Easy Cranberry Sauce with Orange Garnish

Hey friends and Happy Thanksgiving week. I thought I would share a simple recipe with y’all before you go shopping for the week. Everyone has their own favorite dishes for Thanksgiving, but sometimes the sauce is an afterthought. So why not hit it out of the park this year with my Easy Cranberry Sauce with Orange Garnish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (I like the Simply Orange brand pulp free)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 12 oz Fresh Cranberries (rinse and be sure all stems are discarded)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 orange
  • pinch of salt

Directions:

  • Combine sugar, orange juice, and water in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine.
  • Using a peeler, peel two spiral peels off of the orange. One to use while simmering, and the other for garnish (keep it in a ziploc bag)
  • Add cranberries, pinch of salt, cinnamon sticks and one of the orange peels.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  • Continue cooking for about 10 minutes or until most of the cranberries have popped open.
  • I prefer to keep some of the cranberries whole.
  • Take out the cinnamon sticks and orange peel.
  • Let cool for at least 30 minutes. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Before serving garnish with the orange peel you saved earlier.

Cranberries in Decor

I also like to buy two bags of cranberries when I go to the store. One for the actual sauce and one for decorating. You can easily make a centerpiece with just some water, flowers and cranberries. See my past arrangements below using cranberries. You can also use the remaining oranges to make some orange garland as well.
