Holiday Home Tour - Robyn's Southern Nest

Budget Friendly Holiday Tablescape

Happy Monday! This weekend I put together my very budget friendly holiday tablescape. I wanted to share some budget friendly hacks that I used while doing this tablescape. We have my mom coming for Thanksgiving this year so I wanted to make our table holiday ready. Because I’ve already decorated for Christmas around the house this tablescape is more on the Christmasy side instead of Thanksgiving, but nonetheless I hope it gives you some inspiration for this holiday season!

Would you believe a lot of these items I used where actually from the Dollar Tree? Yes you read that right. The Dollar Tree  has some great items for entertaining for the holidays. I will list all the items I picked up from Dollar Tree at the end so you can go grab these awesome items for yourself!

I always start with the table runner when I start my tablescapes. I picked this buffalo check one up from Amazon. I like to layer the plates and chargers as well. I used my trusty woven chargers first and then I topped those with white melamine chargers I found at Dollar Tree. I also picked up some garland from Dollar Tree and cut it into small sections in order to make a “wreath like” effect around the chargers. I love the addition of greenery it gives to the place setting. The more textures and layers the better in my opinion. You can easily make 6 sections out of one strand of their garland so there is no need to go out and buy wreaths to create this look.

I topped off my white charger with a salad plate from Target’s Hearth and Hand line from last year. I’ve used these cross pattered plates so much this past year! They go with everything. I also had the coordinating napkins, so I looped those through my silver napkin rings and stuck in a berry pick to add in a pop of red. I picked up the berries from Dollar Tree as well. There were 4 bunches on one pick so I had just the right amount for $1!

To finish out the place setting I put out these water glasses with a gold rim which I also picked up from Dollar Tree! They are dishwasher safe as well. I tested one out just to be sure not all the gold came off in the dishwasher. I think they look so classy for only being a buck!

For the centerpiece I decided to bring back my easy DIY Botanical Water bottles. I clipped some greenery from our bushes outside for the outer two bottles and the middle bottle I took a faux poinsettia and placed the petals in water so it created this red colored bottle filled with petals. No need to add food coloring. The dye from the petals does the job. The bottles are from IKEA, but I found similar ones here on Amazon. They are sitting on my favorite wood pedestal from Pottery Barn. I can’t tell you how much use I get out of this pedestal. It’s great for entertaining! You can read my post about my botanical water bottles here. I also used some small ceramic buffalo check plates from the Dollar Spot at Target underneath the two greenery bottles for an additional pop of color.

I ended up switching out the red “Kool-Aid” looking bottle with real cranberries instead for a totally different look. I do recommend using a bottle with a wider mouth if you’re going to use cranberries. I found this old milk jug at Goodwill. That way they are easier to get out when you’re done. They also don’t tint the water red either. I like to use them in floral arrangements too!

Underneath the pedestal I stuck in some picks I also found at Dollar Tree that have some flocked evergreen, berries and pinecones! I also snaked in my Hearth and Hand lambs ear and berry garland I picked up last year from Target for some added greenery.

For the ambiance I added my mercury glass candlesticks from Michael’s and the votives I picked up from the Dollar Tree as well. I just dropped in some battery powered tea lights that flicker. I think you can also get these at “The Tree”  as I like to call it. 🙂 I told you I wasn’t lying about half of these things being from the Dollar Tree! It proves that you can create a holiday look without breaking the bank!

Items from Dollar Tree:

2 “Mercury Glass” votives

4 White Melamine Chargers

1 Holly Berry Pick (has 4 berry bunches to one pick)

1 Garland used under the chargers (1 strand will make 6 sections)

2 Flocked Christmas picks under pedestal

4 Water glasses with gold rim

Total purchased from Dollar Tree $14.00!!!
