Tips for Styling Your Kitchen

Tips for Styling Your Kitchen

Happy Monday friends! Saturday night at about 11:00pm I thought it would be a perfect time to re-style my kitchen. Call me crazy, but sometimes I get these thoughts in my mind on how I want something to look and I can’t settle until it’s done. Not to mention I really enjoy switching things around and giving items new homes around the house. I used a lot of the same pieces, but I rearranged them in different ways to create a new look for the next few months, or at least until I get tired of it again. 🙂 Styling your kitchen is a quick and easy project to give your kitchen a new fresh feel for each season without breaking the bank. Below I’ve listed my tips for styling your kitchen. I hope you will enjoy!

Because we have a very black and white kitchen I like to bring in warm tones with pops of wood and colors spaced out all over the kitchen. The wood tones I used all coordinate very well with the color of our wood floors, so the space looks cohesive but not too planned out.

I like to clear out a space completely so that way I  have a blank canvas when I’m re-styling a space. This way you don’t end up putting the things back in their same spot. After I do a re-style like this I have to give my husband a mini tour of where everything is so he won’t holler at me later where everything is. He deals with my crazy whims and I love him for it!

For the counters I try and keep everything looking tidy and not cluttered. I like to have open spaces to cook without decor getting in the way. So everything you see has a purpose and is not just there to be decorative. I also like to keep no more than two appliances out on the counter otherwise it starts getting a little cluttered.

I highly recommend getting a tiered tray since you can house multiple items that you use on a daily basis and they look really cute as well. I wish they still made this galvanized tray I bought at Wal-Mart but I don’t think they do. It’s perfect because it can be wiped down very easily and looks great in corners.

I put our espresso machine over here in the corner on top of our big cutting board in order to break up the white on white.

Our sink I kept pretty simple and only kept out the things that we actually use. Since I decorate it on Wednesdays for my hashtag game on instagram called #styledsink, during the week I like to keep it pretty minimal.

On top of the cabinets I will probably switch out our arrangements to something more Fall appropriate but for now I just have our colorful flowers up there.

I switched out the decor on top of the refrigerator to put our tiered tower up there to give it some more height. Plus all the stuff I did have up there needed to be wiped down since it was collecting a lot of dust.

Tips for Styling a Kitchen:

  1. Start with a blank space and clean off all counters and backsplash.
  2. Edit out items that you don’t use on a daily/weekly basis and store them elsewhere when not in use.
  3. Cluster decorative items in 3’s with varying heights.
  4. Give an area a designated space by placing them on a tray or tiered tray.
  5. Space out your colors throughout the space so there is a nice balance of color or with some wood tones.
  6. Bring in some life with either real or faux plants. A little pop of green makes such a difference in a kitchen!
