Vanity Organization and Refresh

Happy Tuesday! I’ve been meaning to declutter and reorganize my vanity area for a long time. I thought to get me excited about this little project I would repaint my vanity. I bought this Campaign Desk from Target a few years ago and I thought it needed a little update. I was also itching to use the fusion mineral paint I had used to repaint our outdoor bench a few weeks ago. It goes on so nicely and I really love the color, algonquin! Or maybe I really just like saying the name algonquin. I hope you will enjoy this little vanity organization and refresh project!

Before I begin I want to disclose that I own a stupid and ridiculous amount of makeup. No normal person should own this amount of makeup. So please don’t judge me! I love trying new things and for awhile there I even thought about being a beauty guru. Short lived because I’m really not that great on camera.

Here’s a little before shot of what I was working with before. My vanity is in our walk in closet that doesn’t have a window, but I make do with my lighted mirror so I don’t look like a clown when heading out the door.

After painting the vanity with two coats of fusion mineral paint and letting in dry for a few hours I was ready to declutter my makeup collection. Our bathroom doesn’t have any drawers, so I bought these free standing drawers for our closet to stay organized. I went through all my drawers and threw away a fairly decent amount of makeup that was either expired or just crap to be honest.

I managed to fill up a whole bin of stuff I don’t use. It feels so amazing to declutter and purge!

I feel like your vanity or dressing area should be a place that inspires you, which is why I decorated mine with favorite photos, a nice scented candle, and some pretty pink flowers. I also put down a little rug in front of my vanity just in case I have any spills or messes.

I had this cute ribbon garland from Target that I thought would look perfect in here to add some color and a bit of whimsy to the space.

We got this medicine cabinet for a wedding gift and it actually fit perfectly on top of these drawers. I hated seeing inside it so I took some scrapbook paper and taped it to the inside of the windows in order to hide all the stuff inside. I think the banner paper goes well with the ribbon garland.

I picked up this antique mirrored tray at Goodwill a long time ago. I’ve thought about painting it but now I’m kind of liking the brass with some of the other gold accents I have on top.

I then lined my vanity drawers with some scrapbook paper. It helped to give them a pop of color! I figured the drawers were the best place to keep my brushes. I did have them out on my vanity before, but they really created a lot of dust from the makeup whenever I would put them back in the cup. These Morphe brushes are my absolute favorite, and they are very affordable! I have linked a few of my favorite makeup items here for y’all.

These acrylic drawers are my favorite! I keep all of the makeup that I use the most in these drawers. I stacked all my palettes on top along with a bowl of my hair ties and some cotton balls all within grabbing distance.

I hope you have enjoyed this little declutter and vanity update! I am so happy with how it turned out! I’m still on the hunt for the perfect bench because I think that would look cuter than this bistro chair, but it will do for now. I have linked most of the items you see in this post right here.

Thank you for flying by my nest little birdies!

xoxo,

Robyn
