Happy Sunday everyone! It is such a beautiful day here in Georgia that I couldn’t help but work on this blog from outside today. There is no excuse to stay cooped up inside when the sun is out, thats for sure. This past week we finally had our new bedroom furniture delivered that had been on order for almost a month. My husband and I thought it was due time to be adults and get matching furniture for our master bedroom. Before we had a mix match of furniture from old to new. Our old bed, a Craigslist find from when we first moved in together 7 years ago, I ended up selling on Facebook Marketplace which was nice. While we were out shopping for furniture I knew I wanted to see the pieces in person instead of ordering online and taking a gamble. We finally found a set made by Ashley Furniture called the Demarlos collection that we both loved because it wasn’t too masculine or too feminine. I wanted the space to be comfortable for both of us. Even though the local shop we found it at was running a special, I actually found a better price for it online at Bedroom Furniture Discounts. It did take a little longer to get delivered, but if you are saving hundreds why not put in the wait? I do get a bit obsessive about researching online before making purchases, but 9 times out of 10 it does end up paying off in the end.
Here is our bedroom with nothing but the mattress and box springs that we slept on the night before delivery. We had moved everything out for the new stuff to arrive.
We also decided to change up the layout of the room, which I actually like so much better since the windows on either side help frame out the bed now. It also feels a little more spacious now.
The headboard to the bed is upholstered in a “greige” fabric and the detailing of the nail heads gives it a more masculine look as well. The antiqued finish of the wood is a nice neutral that ties in to the wall color, Sherwin Williams, Mindful Gray. Our carpet is more on the beige side of the spectrum so this is a nice medium and not too cool toned. Juuusst right I presume. Our rug I had found over a year ago on Rugs USA, my favorite spot for rugs! It gives the room some pattern and interest with a vintage flair.
Most people would opt for a small chest of drawers and a large chest of drawers, but not us. We thought having two larger dressers would be best for the space, and you get more for your money that way. One has a mirror the other is for the TV.
Baskets and greenery are from IKEA. Candle is from Target’s Hearth and Hand Magnolia Collection.
I think one of my favorite things about this furniture is that the nightstands have USB and power strips inside the drawers so no more messy cords laying around. They are tucked discreetly in your drawers. Love that! Especially from a design perspective. No one likes seeing tablet, phone, and watch cords laying everywhere!
I haven’t gone overboard with the decor in here. I just want it to be an escape for the both of us. So the simpler the better. I wanted it to feel like we’ve both checked in to a nice hotel suite. A getaway if you will. I did find this perfect piece at Hobby Lobby the other day to go above our TV since it was kind of a weird space. It was just a bonus that it coordinated with the furniture and was on clearance for $25!
These frames are from Michael’s. They were on super clearance for $14 each. I had a few of my favorite photos printed in black and white for a classic look.
Another find that helps any bedroom feel complete, was our new white curtains I found on Amazon for $20 for a pair! They are great quality and the perfect length. I like when the fabric pools at the floor. It seems more luxurious that way. Here’s the link for the curtains. I highly suggest them. You can’t beat the price! There is nothing more frustrating when you have to buy 2 panels that are sold separately. That’s just madness!
Our bedding is super simple and white. In the past I always chose patterns, but I would only like them for a year and then want something else. So this set I’ve had for over a year and I still love it. I like adding different textures with the whites to give it some interest. And of course the more pillows the better. Unless of course you’re my husband. We all know how husbands feel about throw pillows. Wink wink!
Well, that is it y’all. My takeaway as always is, you don’t have to spend a ton of money on decor for your home. Do your research and find the best deals out there. Keep it simple, comfortable, and affordable.
Thank you for flying by my nest…
Mickey D. always likes to crash my photos. Crazy cat!
